For a lot of Australian's it was an intense Summer. Drought, fires, storms, flooding! Mother nature really unleashed her fury on us.
Now the world is at war with a virus. We are being encouraged to stay indoors. That doesn't mean we can't enjoy the serenity of our own garden, amongst the healing powers of nature.
March 20th is the Autumn Equinox, where day and night are almost equal, 12 hours each side. Soon the mornings will become crisper, the nights cooler and the leaves will turn from green to yellow to orange to red and finally to brown (and fall everywhere!) Watch this amazing cycle of life and appreciate the beauty and fragility of nature.
Autumn in the Garden - Tips from Ché
Now is the perfect time to take advantage of the cooler days and with the reduced water restrictions, we can really start to replenish your lawns, gardens and trees. Help them recover from the brutal seasons of drought we have all experienced.
It is vital to feed your lawns and gardens with the following;
- Good quality organic matter i.e. premium garden mix, cow manure, compost.
- A granular wetting agent, a must for gardens and beds alike. It will hold precious water in the soil for much longer. When it does finally rain or if you can spare 30mins to hose your garden, it will thank you three fold.
- A slow release fertiliser will ensure ongoing macro and micro nutrient up to for six months.
- A layer of premium quality composted blended mulch, will help impede the weed, growth, keep moisture in and will replenish the soil over a 12 month period and much much more.
- Seasol! You can never use enough.
These are just a few sound garden practices that will help your garden regain its vigour and appearance. Other water saving tips include;
- Drip/Spray/Overhead Irrigation installation
- Fully Automated Timer Controlled Irrigation installation
- Rainwater Tank Pump installation
- Rainwater Tank installation
